Why I started baking - My Grandma ♥️

Growing up, when I was with my Grandma it always felt like we were in the kitchen. Whether we were cooking a meal, prepping some veggies from the garden, making a cake, pie, cookies, researching recipes (out of her over 100 cookbooks), or just sitting at the kitchen table talking. It was our space. I still bake with her aprons and old recipes. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without her, so thank you Grams, miss you everyday ♥️

An adorable cake for an adorable birthday theme 🥹

Before this order, I had never heard of Julia’s House for Lost Creatures by Ben Hatke, but now it’s on my daughter’s Christmas list! Such a cute story full of magical creatures, which were such a fun challenge to create. So many hours of love went into this design. The cake itself is a Vanilla Rainbow Sprinkle, with Blackberry Compote, and Vanilla Buttercream - so yummy! I decided to ice it in an ombré effect, to try to mimic the book cover as much as possible, and all of the characters were handcrafted with fondant. And this past weekend, I made one of my lifelong girlhood dreams come true by hosting a Practical Magic movie night with my gals, complete with midnight margaritas! Being me, I went all out (I love a good theme) and created this tribute to Practical Magic ✨. So this cake was an experience to make. This was my first time using fondant to make figures and it definitely took some trial and error and my whole weekend! Everything is made with fondant except for the leaves (I need to order a fondant leaf cutter). But it was so worth it, I learned so much and didn’t give up. With that being said, I’m feeling much more comfortable with the idea of opening up shop and accepting orders 🎉 I’ll be adding an order form and inquiry link to my bio shortly, but for now feel free to shoot me a message if you’d like to order. Practice practice practice 🏃🏼‍♀️

Recently switched up my icing recipe from American Buttercream to Swiss Meringue Buttercream, and I’m in love 😻 It’s silky smooth and just the right amount of sweetness. *chefs kiss* Now I just need to tweak my flower piping technique. Swiss Meringue is slightly softer than American Buttercream so it is a bit more difficult to pipe delicate flowers, but I’m learning. Practice practice practice! I was hesitant to post this cutie because it’s not perfect, but I want to share the journey with you all, not just the highlights. ♥️

Hello y’all! Long time no see! 👋

Guess what?! WE MOVED! In December of 2021 we said goodbye to our small town and made the long, almost 12 hour drive, to the big city. This has been a huge change for us and one I am so excited to share with you all. Over the last few months we have slowly been getting settled, unpacked, and exploring our new home. My last year of school has started, I’ve rediscovered parts of myself I had forgotten, and I’m feeling inspired with this fresh start. That being said I’m working on some exciting things for this passion project of mine. I’m not quite ready to except orders yet, but I’m actively working towards it.
